Spotlight on Irish CCF Transformations

Teagasc are showcasing Ireland’s CCF pioneers in a new online CCF case study series in collaboration with Pro Silva Ireland. The studies put the spotlight on a number of Irish forests, including several where Pro Silva Ireland members, both forest owners and foresters, are working together to transform even-aged plantations into diverse woodlands managed on continuous cover forestry principles.

The series focuses on the owners’ experiences in transforming their forests and provides real figures of timber outputs from felling interventions. Several of the case study owners have availed of the CCF Forestry Scheme to advance their plans (https://www.teagasc.ie/crops/forestry/grants/management-grants/wis—continuous-cover-forestry/). A number of different forest types are covered, including both hardwood and softwood stands (and one example from Wales).
