The Autumn field day will focus on how we can determine the biodiversity value of our forests (native and non-native) and how to manage forests for biodiversity.
Rosturra is a Coillte-owned property near the town of Woodland in south Galway. Much of the property is managed primarily for nature as a ‘Coillte biodiversity area’. CCF is being implemented in the biodiversity area to improve the structural and compositional diversity of the forest.
Rosturra has high biodiversity value because it has a particularly long history of forest cover. It is adjacent to the Rosturra Wood and Pollnaknockaun Wood Nature Reserves. Rosturra contains a mix of relatively young native forest (Millennium Forest), pockets of old sessile oak woodland, young oak plantation and conifer forest (mainly Sitka spruce).
The Pro Silva Ireland AGM will be held during lunchtime. Further AGM-related information will be circulated to members prior to the event.
Please bring a packed lunch and suitable footwear and clothing.
