Tree species selection in the era of climate change

Pro Silva Ireland’s Spring Field Day will focus on how scientific research is helping to identify the best performing tree species for Irish forestry. We will explore how selecting the right species can support sustainable forests and increase the diversity of Ireland’s forests, especially as the climate changes.
About Niall Farrelly
Niall Farrelly is a Senior Forestry Research Officer with Teagasc. His research focuses on how genetics, forest management and environmental factors influence the growth and productivity of plantation forests.
He is the coordinator of The Fit Forests Project, which is focused on the response of tree species to climate change.
