Join Pro Silva Ireland for a field day looking at the operations, options and decisions involved in re-establishing productive, resilient forests following damage and clearance.
The event will take place in a large forest, owned by the Hogan family, where around 40 hectares affected by windblow and ash dieback have recently been replanted. The site provides an opportunity to look at the full process of reforestation, from clearance and ground preparation through to replanting and early establishment.
Reforestation has been carried out under the Climate Resilient Reforestation Scheme and the Reconstitution Ash Dieback Scheme, using different forest types, including FT1 and FT10–CCF. FT10-CCF supports the establishment of diverse, productive forests designed from the outset for future management under CCF.

This is a fully field-based workshop, so participants should come prepared to spend the day outdoors. Please bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear appropriate for the weather and forest conditions.
